Having just raced Ironman Lake Placid 6 days before this race, I had no clue what the body would be able to handle! We called these feet the DIRTY DOUBLE
Having kept this race somewhat of a secret till race week, I was excited to try to push my body to some new limits! I had a really good 6 days of recovery and I knew my coach would have me ready to go.
Swim - the swim was a down river swim so was hoping for a nice little PR! IT was also a nonwetsuit swim as the water temp was 78 degrees! THis would be a first for me! I completed the swim in 29 minutes and it was a PR! I did have to pause about 500 yards into the swim to regroup my mind as it was already struggle from exhusation. I exited the swim and had a nice .35 mile run all uphill to transition.
Bike - I headed out on the bike and knew this was a hilly course! I found my self full of energy in the legs so I decided to push them till I could not longer push them. It was a nice bike course with rolling hills, I tried to keep my spee up on the downhills to make up for a slower uphill climb. Again it was hot so focused on nutrition and hydration for the ride. Ended the ride in about 3 hours and was complete happy with that! Body felt amaxing and legs felt strong as they could be!
Run - this was a two loop run course so decided to not push it to hard and get injured as I knew the finishline was in sight! Had to do some walking and take on extra hydration as I could feel my body getting depleted! Finished the run in around 2.5 hours and crossed the finishline and completed the Dirty double!
Overall this was a very successful day and I am now looking forward to a few weeks of rest and recovery!
