I played softball growing up but was not very good at it. I tried out for track in highschool and did not make the team. I did not consider myself an athlete and would work out sporadically. I started running in my 30's and competed in a few races but did not make it a regular habit until my later 30's. I was surprisingly pretty good at it. In 2012 I competed in my first 2 half marathons. I have since ran many more along with races of all different distances including 2 full marathons. I always wanted to do a triathlon but was hesitant because of the swim. I side-stroked my way through my first sprint triathlon in 2019 at the age of 45. I finally was able to swim freestyle in another sprint triathlon in 2020. I had suffered a stress fracture in my foot earlier that year which forced me to take a break from running so I worked on my swimming! This past year I completed a third sprint and also my first olympic distance. I trained for and was supposed to compete in my first half ironman in Cozumel, Mexico last month. This race was what got me into Infinit products. I knew I needed to take nutrition seriously for a race of this distance and one that would be in a hot climate. Infinit worked well for me throughout training and I have recommended it to many fellow athletes. Unfortunately my husband had a medical emergency a week before the race and ended up in the ICU on a vent. (Not Covid related and he is on his way to a full recovery!) He was my top priority but I was also devastated to have to miss my race that I worked so hard to train for. Ironman allowed me to defer so I have my sights set on my first 70.3 in 2022 at the age of 48! I now consider myself not only an athlete, but a triathlete! I love all 3 legs of triathlon! I became a runner in my 30s and a triathlete in my 40s. Maybe in my 50s I will become an Ironman. Who knows? What I do know is that if I decide to go for a full, Infinit can help get me there!
