I started triathlon in 2015 as a way to get into better shape. Humble beginnings at a local YMCA beginner triathlon class grew into a passion. The first race was a local sprint but a few months later I ran my first Olympic length. I enjoyed the workouts and the competitions but the most important aspect was the camaraderie with the other athletes. I had high hopes for the 2016 season; I scheduled 2 events per month with a Half Iron (Timberman) in August and a Full Ironman (Maryland) in October. It was a blast. 2017 was equally busy with a Half Iron (Patriot) in June, a full Ironman (Mont Tremblant) in August and many olympic and sprint races mixed in. The schedule did not let up in 2018 with two Half Iron (Patriot and Lake Placid), 1 Full Iron (Louisville) and a trip to USAT Nationals. 2019 was a good year for me. At Ironman 70.3 Connecticut I was able to grab a spot in the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Nice France. I also was granted a roll down spot for the ITU Draft Legal Sprint World Championships in Lausanne Switzerland. With 8 days separating each race and only a 6 hour drive between venues I decided to race both. I also found time for Ironman Lake Placid and a few local triathlons and run races. The 2020 race calendar is coming together with USAT Nationals in Milwaukee, the American Triple-T in Ohio and Ironman 70.3 Maine. My training buddies are looking for another full Ironman but I have not yet made any commitments.
